Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)

While general anesthesia is favored in children, local anesthesia is preferred in adults. It is suggested that children have it done before the age of six, preferably before they start school. The processing time will vary depending on the process; however, the maximum time is 2 hours.

There is no risk of infection as a result of using regular medical dressings and keeping the incision area clean following the treatment. With medical dressings and controls, the postoperative period lasts no longer than 10 days. 10. After that, the stitches are removed, and the individual is able to resume his normal activities.

• Patient should shower 1-2 days after surgery, but the incision region should never be wet.
• After the process, the bandage affixed to the operation area should be worn for 3 days. The bandage can be removed after three days; however, it is advised that it be worn constantly at night for ten days.
• Protect the incision area from external disturbances and avoid lying on it as much as possible until it is totally healed.
• Avoid wearing tight clothing.
• Do not fold your ears forward, sideways, or backwards.
• If glasses are needed, it is advised to wear them as little as possible during the first week or not at all.
• For the first three weeks, apply an antibiotic cream to the incision area.
